Apart from its role in hepatic LDL clearance, the extrahepatic functions of PCSK9 have been described [6,7,8,9,10], and as such, an increase in platelet activity via PCSK9 might contribute to an increased incidence and progression of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) [11].
