The levels of a soluble form of the insulin receptor (sIR) containing the α subunit and part of the extracellular domain of the β-subunit have been demonstrated to be increased in plasma of patients with T1D or T2D compared to healthy controls and were reported to be associated with hyperglycaemia and hyperinsulinemia [30,31]. The gene discussed is INSR; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
