In fact, among the events leading to the poor prognosis of HNSCC, the TME composition is a critical one because it is well reported that high CD68+ macrophages, low CD8+ T-lymphocytes (LT) and low FoxP3+ T-regulatory lymphocyte (LTreg) infiltrations are associated with the lowest rate of survival [8,9,10,11]. The gene discussed is CD68; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
