In a study using four breast cancer cell lines (MCF7, MDA-MB-231, T47D, and SK-BR-3), CBD (up to 7 μM) diminished the angiogenesis (blood vessel formation) and stem cell-like properties of these breast cancer cells through the downregulation of hypoxia-induced factor-1α (HIF-1α) and Src/von Hippel–Lindau tumor suppressor protein (VHL) signaling [37]. The gene discussed is SRC; the disease is breast carcinoma.
