ADGRL3 and cancer: First, we report that when lamellipodia-rich HEK293 cells express Lphn3, they reduce their lamellipodia content and adopt morphological characteristics, which are reminiscent of an amoeboid phenotype known to essentially consist of a rounded cell morphology with reduced cell-matrix contacts, and which was described as being an important cell transition state supporting cancer cells migration when abandoning their initial mesenchymal lamellipodia-rich morphology to invade other tissues [46,49,50].
