Additional supporting evidence for the use of 5-LOX as a chemoprevention target is evidence that mRNA for 5-LOX and 5-LO activating protein (FLAP), which is required for activation of 5-LOX, is expressed in lung cancer cell lines and that mRNA for 5-LOX is expressed in lung cancer tissues [11].
