Platinum-based chemotherapy was the standard first-line systemic anticancer therapy administered in Japan for patients with advanced NSCLC, in line with treatment guidelines, through 2015 [10,11], when national guidelines recommended platinum-based chemotherapy for patients <75 years and nonplatinum-based chemotherapy for those ≥75 years old with previously untreated advanced NSCLC negative for EGFR or ALK genomic alterations [7]. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
