Mutations in Tp53/p53 with regard to renal cell carcinoma seem to be detected less frequently than in other cancers, but on the other hand, there is relatively little data concerning the p53 status in this particular cancer; however, presence of the Tp53/p53 mutant has an impact on the development of RCC and on clinical prognosis. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
