Indeed, a recent study [35] investigating the associations between central inflammation with 11C-PK11195 Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Aβ (11C-PiB PET), and tau (18F-Flortaucipir PET) deposition in MCI over a two-year period indicates that neuroinflammation may occur in the early AD pre-clinical stages, and is followed by a spatially correlated increase in Aβ in the frontal, temporal, and occipital lobes.
