In summary, the authors of this study suggest that a Piezo2 channelopathy on Type Ia sensory terminals in the muscle spindle could be responsible for the compensatory exchange of static-phase firing sensory encoding of the stretch reflex from Type Ia to Type II afferents, and, as a result, for the delayed latency of the MLR (Figure 3).
