CD4 and meningeal tuberculosis: In univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses (Table 2), the baseline log2 CSF lactate was significantly associated with a diagnosis of definite TBM (univariate odds ratio [OR], 9.1; 95% CI, 5.3 to 15.8; P < 0.001); even after adjustment for GCS scores of <15, CD4 T cell count (per 25 cells), and CSF WBC counts of ≤5 cells per μL, there remained a significant relationship (adjusted OR [aOR], 8.3; 95% CI, 3.6 to 19.1; P < 0.001).
