Recently, different genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified several loci associated with an increased susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection and severe disease5–7.These loci include genes involved in type I interferon (IFN) signaling pathway (IFNAR2, DPP9 or OAS1-3), autoimmunity (TYK2) or in lung function (FOXP4).However, top associated variants displayed low odd ratios to be considered predictive biomarkers of COVID-19 severity5–7. The gene discussed is IFNA1; the disease is COVID-19.
