Even a combination of hematologic and inflammatory parameters from tier 1 testing (ESR > 40 or CRP > 5; platelets < 150,000 × 103/μL or neutrophils > 6000 × 103/μL) detect only 51.4% true positives with MIS-C, and this combination of parameters only displays 50% sensitivity and 50% specificity in distinguishing MIS-C from children with other infection/inflammatory illnesses. Here, CRP is linked to infection.
