A second NF1 hit, and consequent loss‐of‐function, has been documented in several NF1‐associated cancers (Boudry‐Labis et al., 2013; Uusitalo et al., 2016), in cutaneous and plexiform neurofibromas as well as in tissues from pigmentary nonneoplastic lesions such as cafè‐au‐lait macules (CALMs) (De Schepper et al., 2008). The gene discussed is NF1; the disease is cancer.
