The experimental design of this study encompassed an array of state-of-the-art techniques, including (i) the induction of NAFLD in mice by feeding them an MCD diet [23], (ii) the validation of NAFLD development by HE stained visuals based the histopathological analysis of liver tissues, (iii) the bioactivity of critical parameters related to NAFLD, such as: serum ALT, AST, MDA, SOD, and lipid profile; the expressions of lipid-associated genes, such as HMGCR, FABP, SREBP, ACC, and FAS; and the expressions of inflammation-associated genes, including IL-1β, HNF4α, TLR4, TNF-α, and IL-6. This evidence concerns the gene HMGCR and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
