Triggering receptors expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2), phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C (PLC) γ2, and protein kinase C (PKC) promote the activation of reparative/regenerative microglial subtypes which are beneficial for neurodegenerative diseases (Hughes et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene TREM2 and neurodegenerative disease.
