Studies showed that hyperlipidemia could enhance the peroxidation of lipids and the formation of modified oxidative low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL), which is mediated by caspase-3; it could also increase NF-kB levels, damage endothelial cells, and promote monocyte adhesion; therefore, it is an important link in the development from hyperlipidemia to AS [45–47]. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is hyperlipidemia.
