In mice with experimental autoimmune uveoretinitis (EAU), a model of human autoimmune uveitis, Taylor et al. demonstrated that MC5R is involved in the protection of retina against the inflammatory damage and in the induction of ocular autoantigen responsive CD4+ regulatory T cells in the post EAU spleen (Taylor et al., 2006). This evidence concerns the gene MC5R and autoimmune uveitis.
