Most interest has been focused on natriuretic peptides, in particular brain-natriuretic peptide (BNP) and its pro-hormone N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) as possible biomarkers of aortic stenosis (Weber et al., 2004; Steadman et al., 2010; Clavel et al., 2014; Auensen et al., 2017; Small et al., 2017).
