If we compare these serine protease profiles from acute TNBS colitis rats to the profiles described in our post-inflammatory rats (Ceuleers et al., 2018; Hanning et al., 2021), we can conclude that tryptase expression is significantly elevated in the post-inflammatory phase of colitis, while matriptase mRNA expression is only significantly decreased in the acute colitis phase. This evidence concerns the gene ST14 and colitis.
