BCHE and Alzheimer disease: In a water maze experiment of AD rats induced by Aβ1-40, a supplement with AM biatractylolide (0.1–1.0 mg/kg) for 10 days led to a remarkably reduced swimming time and error frequency and reduced cholinesterase (ChE) content in rats, indicating that AM biatractylolide could improve the memory and learning ability of AD rats (Feng et al., 2009).
