FAT1 and hepatocellular carcinoma: While some forms of malignancies such as skin squamous cell carcinoma, lung cancer, head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, and oral cancer have been associated with mutations and deletion in the FAT1 gene (4–6), other cancers including breast carcinoma, colorectal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, cervical cancer, pancreatic cancer, and gliomas (3, 7–13) have shown an oncogenic role of FAT1 in tumor pathogenesis.
