LAMP2 and Cerebral ischemia: Autophagy in astrocytes was induced by cerebral ischemia as evidenced by the increased expression of autophagy and autolysosome-related proteins, including microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3-II), Beclin 1, lysosome-associated membrane protein 2 (LAMP2), and lysosomal cathepsin B. Furthermore, inhibition of autophagy by 3-MA attenuated OGD-induced death of astrocytes and increased GFAP-positive cells in the ischemic cortex 12 h following pMCAO.
