NR1H4 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis: Wu et al. (2018) reported that GA protected against ANIT-induced cholestasis, possibly via activation of FXR-mediated efflux transporters, with consequent attenuated dysregulation of BA homeostasis in the liver. Yan et al. (2018) determined that glycyrrhizin alleviates nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) by activating FXR and reducing inflammation responses, and the hepatoprotective effect was possibly attributed to GA.
