MYC and colorectal cancer: The international colorectal cancer subtyping consortium analyzed six independent classification systems and proposed a robust classification system named consensus molecular subtypes (CMS): CMS1 (MSI immune), characterized by hypermutated, microsatellite unstable, strong immune activation; CMS2 (canonical), chromosomally unstable, marked WNT and MYC signaling activation; CMS3 (metabolic), evident metabolic dysregulation; and CMS4 (mesenchymal), prominent transforming growth factor β activation, stromal invasion, and angiogenesis (22).
