GIPR and Nausea: In addition to GIPR, cluster 6 neurons express other cell surface receptors (Zhang et al., 2021), including mu-opioid receptor and neuropeptide Y receptor 2; it is possible that activating these receptors stimulates or inhibits GIPR neurons, with other stimulating agonists potentially providing additional avenues for pharmacological modulation of nausea-related behaviors with variable associated side effects.
