LOXHD1 and cancer: Except for its association with DFNB77, a progressive form of autosomal-recessive nonsyndromic hearing loss (ARNSHL) (Grillet et al., 2009), and the requirement of LOXHD1 integrity for auditory hair cell mechanotransduction (Trouillet et al., 2021), very little is known about the role of LOXHD1 in normal cell physiology or cancer due to its undetectable expression in a large majority of normal and cancer cells.
