The changes in albumin, total protein, and cholesterol levels reflected the higher risk of mortality in patients with sepsis [28], and in our results, the values of these factors were significantly lower in patients with sepsis, with an albumin level of 2.73 (SD 1.57) versus 3.3 (SD 1.47), total protein of 4.77 (SD 2.98) versus 5.27 (SD 2.82), and a cholesterol level of 81.06 (SD 84.79) versus 111.46 (SD 84.3), respectively, with P<.001.
