Interestingly, in our cohort, intrafollicular levels of 17OH-pregnenolone, DHEA, Δ4-androstenedione and testosterone positively correlated with plasma LH concentration and cycles duration, a result that further supports the existence of a close association between intraovarian hyperandrogenism and LH, possibly critical in the development of ovulatory disorders typical of PCOS. Here, PLOD1 is linked to polycystic ovary syndrome.
