Indeed, women with PCOS secrete unbalanced levels of plasma adipokines [11, 12], characterised by higher concentrations of leptin [13] and alterations in plasma and ovarian adiponectin, chemerin, resistin, visfatin, apelin and omentin, that might be directly or indirectly involved in PCOS pathogenesis [11, 14].
