In the striatum, Gα(olf) is closely associated with the G protein subunits, Gγ7 and Gβ2, and the type 5 adenylyl cyclase (AC5) to form a multi-molecular complex critical for cAMP production (Hervé, 2011; Xie et al., 2015) and mutations of Gγ7 and AC5 cause motor disorders, including dystonia, in animals and humans.
