Clinical trials and meta-analyses have demonstrated that patients with advanced EGFR-mutant NSCLC who were undergoing first- and second-generation EGFR-TKI as first-line treatments, experienced better Progression-free Survival (PFS) and fewer adverse effects when compared with those undergoing platinum-based chemotherapy5–8. The gene discussed is EGFR; the disease is non-small cell lung carcinoma.
