Interestingly, NUP62 staining frequently colocalized with phospho-TDP-43+ (pTDP-43) inclusions in neurons of the spinal cord and hippocampus of C9-ALS/FTLD cases (Fig. 1a, b, arrow), suggesting a link between TDP-43 inclusions and cytoplasmic NUP62 mislocalization. The gene discussed is TARDBP; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
