BRD2 and cardiac hypertrophy: The conclusion that BRD2 has a detrimental role in exacerbating pathological cardiac hypertrophy is based on the following observations: 1) expression of BRD2 was upregulated in ISO-induced pathological cardiac hypertrophy both in vivo and in vitro; 2) overexpression of BRD2 facilitated the pathogenesis of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy; 3) knockdown of BRD2 prevented ISO-induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy; and 4) rats infected with AAV-siBRD2 ameliorated ISO-induced cardiac hypertrophy, cardiac fibrosis, and dysregulation of cardiac function.
