Page et al. (2019) reported that the SCD1 expression was greatly increased in TRPV1 knockout mice than in the wild-type mice. It implies that SCD1 activity possibly reduces when TRPV1 is induced, which is a benefit for the treatment of DM. It is consistent with the findings of our study. A study suggested that TPRV1 regulates the expression of SCD1 and the endocannabinoid system [e.g., cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1)]. Meanwhile, activation of CB1 subsequently affects TRPV1 activity and enhances the SCD1 expression (Hermann et al., 2003; Tóth et al., 2009; Liu et al., 2013). This evidence concerns the gene TRPV1 and diabetes mellitus.
