YY1 and melanoma: In the present study we show that, in melanoma, YY1 elicits a dual role: On the one hand, reduced YY1 levels were previously reported to prevent melanoma formation, revealing a role of YY1 in promoting tumor initiation and growth (Varum et al., 2019); on the other hand, we show here that downregulation of YY1 results in increased invasion and micrometastasis formation of melanoma cells in vitro and in vivo, highlighting a role of YY1 in suppressing melanoma cell invasiveness.
