The authors concluded that different intensities of exercise could have different outcomes in ALS mice prognosis; moderate level exercise, compared to a sedentary lifestyle, could increase the release of neurotrophic factors, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), with a positive role on motor neurons survival. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
