CD4 and cancer: Although CD4 T cells seem proliferative too, their proportion of total CD3+ T cells was lower as compared to DN T. The high proliferative CD4 T-cell state, albeit in low absolute numbers, may represent proliferating regulatory T (Treg) cell population (25% of CD4 T cells) known to be present in the microenvironment of cancer, as we have reported in our previous paper (14) (Figure 3).
