NFKB1 and colorectal cancer: Curcumin-induced NF-kB inhibition results in sensitization of cancer cells with high expression of NF-kB to radiation or chemotherapy; for example, in cells exposed to 5-fluorouracil induction of high expression of NF-kB has been found in association with resistance to apoptosis and synergism between curcumin and chemotherapy through NF-kB inhibition has been reported for colon and colorectal cancer cell lines (Mortezaee et al., 2019a).
