A possible explanation for the divergent effects of BK agonists between Panc-1 and other cancer cells, could be that the basal Ca2+ concentration in Panc-1 cells [around 200 nM (Remigante et al., 2019; Zuccolini et al., 2022)] is not high enough to reach significant channel activation at negative voltages even with the activator present because the gating range is too right-shifted. Here, KNG1 is linked to cancer.
