Docking studies suggest that targeting proapoptotic human caspases 3/7 proteins, as well as human MMP-7 and p53, could be responsible for those effects observed in vitro in the cytotoxic response of 3e, 3i, and 3k in SW480 and SW620 colon carcinoma cell lines; however, complementary studies are needed to elucidate the exact mechanism of action associated with these hybrid molecules. The gene discussed is CASP3; the disease is colon carcinoma.
