Abdul-Aziz et al. [83] found that silencing HIF-1α inhibited the transcriptional regulation of metastasis suppressor factor (MIF) in AML cells in bone marrow under hypoxic conditions, thereby improving the survival of AML cells, indicating the pivotal role of the hypoxia/HIF-1α/MIF axis in promoting the survival and proliferation of an AML tumor. Here, HIF1A is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
