A multitude of scientific evidence of the immune-related compounds involved in epilepsy demonstrates that PBMCs from epilepsy patients after an in vitro challenge with different stimulators produce increased amounts of inflammatory mediators of the IL-1 family (IL-6, IL-10, and IFN-α) compared to PBMCs of control patients [28,29,30,31,32,33]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and epilepsy.
