The Tau protein, which is known to be involved in the pathogenesis of various neurodegenerative diseases including AD and tauopathy, was found to be recognized by PQBP1 in brain microglia and to induce intracellular signaling of the cGAS-STING pathway to induce expression of cytokine genes such as TNF, IL-6 and type 1 IFN for brain inflammation [24] (Figure 4).
