TERC and melanoma: Concerning TERC in cancer, it is known from in situ and fluorescence hybridization data (ISH, FISH) that is overexpressed in lung, oral, prostate and cervix carcinoma [10]; further, only Novakovic et al., to our knowledge, reported nested-PCR data that revealed the presence of TERC in the plasma of healthy controls and of patients with breast cancer, melanoma and thyroid cancer, but did not allow the TERC amount to be considered as a tumor marker [29].
