MPO and skin cancer: In the model of mouse skin treated by stage I tumor promoting agent, 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate, NDGA pretreatment mitigated cutaneous lipid peroxidation, inhibited H2O2 production, restored reduced GSH level and activatied antioxidant enzymes, lowered the elevated activities of myeloperoxidase (MPO), xanthine oxidase and skin edema formation, thereby demonstrating antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties and chemopreventive potential against skin cancer [64].
