IFNG and infection: IFN-γ levels were measured at different time periods post-infection, but they were only detected in MH-S cells infected at 7 dpi or at the end of the in vitro infection assays (Figure 3B), confirming that macrophages can express this cytokine in response to mycobacterial stimuli, such as structural components (e.g., lipopolysaccharides) and/or cytokines (stimulating feedback), at infection stages close to the onset of the adaptive immune response (starting at week 2 post-infection) [51,52,53].
