The four features in AutoML modeling for GDM prediction (HbA1c, mean arterial blood pressure, fasting insulin and TG/HDL ratio) discovered through genetic programming are suggestive of transient insulin resistance at preconception and reflect the women’s pre-existing metabolic physiology, which clearly has a bearing on the women’s ability to amount an appropriate metabolic adaptation to pregnancy in response to signals from the conceptus to ensure a successful pregnancy. Here, INS is linked to gestational diabetes.
