The study induced liver fibrosis in mice by intraperitoneal injection of carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) and treated it with ovothiol A. The results showed that ovothiol A plays an anti-fibrosis role by regulating the expression and activity of membrane-bound γ-glutamyl-transpeptidase (GGT) and decreasing the expression of fibrosis markers such as TGF-β1, α-SMA, and tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor (TIMP-1). The gene discussed is TIMP1; the disease is Hepatic fibrosis.
