Interestingly, human data on pro-inflammatory cytokine gene expression levels in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) of male FD patients showed higher levels of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFa), IL1b, and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) as pro-inflammatory mediators and also higher gene expression levels of systemic IL4 and IL10 as anti-inflammatory mediators [11]. This evidence concerns the gene IL10 and Fabry disease.
