IRF5 and rheumatoid arthritis: Although discrepant with a previous report76, Agca et al. examined the effects of the Interferon regulatory factor 5 (IRF5) gene polymorphisms (rs2004640 and rs4728142) and found that some genotypes were associated with cIMT and cIMT progression, but not CV events in RA patients, implicating a role of the IRF5 transcription pathway in atherosclerosis77.
